Losing luggage 'can be an expensive nightmare'

Losing luggage while heading on a break could prove to be "an expensive nightmare", according to an expert.

David Neave, director of general insurance at The Co-operative Insurance, made the comment after research by the company found that a third of women would most miss having a bikini with them if their cases were lost.

It was also found that the same number of men would not enjoy being without sunglasses while their luggage was being returned to them.

Discussing the findings, Mr Neave said it was sensible for holidaymakers to reduce the amount of luggage they take on breaks in order to avoid losing too many important items.

"If you have adequate travel insurance and receipts for electrical goods and other such items you will be able to claim for any loss," he added.

Recent research by Legal & General claimed that the overall value of luggage for a family of four is over £3,000.

It was also found that a single holdall with one person's belongings inside could be worth £1,300.ADNFCR-1054-ID-18747719-ADNFCR
